Tokelau's postage stamps offer a vivid portrayal of its cultural heritage and natural beauty. Before issuing its own stamps, Tokelau utilized those of the Gilbert & Ellice Islands and later Western Samoa. In 1948, Tokelau released its first definitive series, featuring maps and scenes from its three atolls: Atafu, Nukunonu, and Fakaofo. Over the years, the stamps have depicted various aspects of Tokelauan life, including traditional handicrafts, local flora and fauna, and community activities. These issues not only serve postal functions but also narrate the story of Tokelau's identity and its connection to the broader Pacific region.
